DOE announced on August 31 that two million smart meters have been installed across the country, supported by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding that is speeding modernization of the U.S. electrical grid. Smart meter technology helps reduce the amount of time needed to respond to energy disruptions and enables consumers to monitor their energy consumption and costs.
