SF Mayor OKs energy finance program

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom signed legislation for a program that will let people take out loans from the city to pay for energy efficient home and business projects.

Under the Property Assessed Clean Energy program, or PACE, the city will make $150 million available for lending to pay for water conservation, energy efficiency and solar or wind power projects. The property owners will pay the loans back through special taxes over 20 years.
