Random Thoughts at CloudConnect (Last Day) |

Since Roger Smith of Informationweek has a series of great articles on CloudConnect, I will not repeat what happened at CloudConnect.
My experience as an attendee make me think of two issues:
- Access to Clouds
- Battery life for client devices
As in the picture, the Wi-Fi coverage at the CloudConnect site was great but it was somewhat slow. When a bunch of demos fired up simaltenously, none of the demos performed well, displays updating their images as if the connections are via 56K modem. This may be resolved as as 802.11n becomes a reality and real broadband is implemented in the US. Aside from the slow connection, what about a connection at all when there is no Wi-Fi? Lucky for Mountain View residents, Google provides free Wi-Fi access. Easy wireless access with a large bandwidth will make Cloud Computing ubiquitous and perforated.
Another problem is that I always have a problem with my PC since the battery does not hold long enough. In my previous blog, I discussed Boston Power that has a battery technology lasting more than 1,000 times longer than normal batteries.
Both appear to take several more years before they become a reality.
