Overview

What can you do to get ready for the stimulus bill and profit from it? How can you impact local policy decisions to support solar development? How can policy actions help you make money in the next three months and over the next few years?

When the federal stimulus bill passes, it is expected to include $30-40 billion in spending for energy programs focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy, and an additional $13 billion to extend tax credits for renewable energy production (Source: AP, February 9, 2009). Solar companies stand to gain a lot from the stimulus bill—but only if they actively educate state and municipal governments in opportunities to support local solar industry jobs.

AltaTerra Research has invited SunEdison Founder, Jigar Shah to explain how you can prepare and advocate for your solar business to make the most of incoming stimulus money.

During this one-hour web conference, Mr. Shah will share his formula for success with plenty of time to address individual questions.

You will be guided through what you can do right now to tune up your business for the solar industry opportunities of 2009, and how you can lobby local officials to get your community ready for the stimulus. Mr. Shah will show where the competitive price points will be over the next two years and how you can retool your business to reach them.

Having built SunEdison from scratch, starting by solving issues with local officials in small towns, Mr. Shah will speak from his own experience and draw on examples of other local initiatives to explain why the market potential for solar is not in Washington, but in your city/town hall.

With the stimulus package coming, you can’t afford to miss Jigar Shah’s perspective and the opportunity to ask questions specific to your interests.

About the Presenter
Referred to as “solar wunderkind” and the “Sun King” by Fortune magazine, Jigar Shah is a leading thinker who has foreseen much in the solar industry. He has taken bold, controversial views and seen them realized. What does he see now for solar power providers?

Jigar Shah launched SunEdison in 2003 based upon a business plan he developed in 1999 for a university class. That became the basis of the SunEdison business model: Simplify solar as a service. It allows organizations to purchase solar energy services under long-term predictably priced contracts avoiding significant capital costs of ownership and operation of solar energy systems.

Today, as an expert on energy project finance and changing energy policy, Shah works globally with leading influencers to guide legislators on renewable energy, global warming and sustainability.

Shah holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and an MBA from The University of Maryland.
